Our latest

Hey journalists! We would love to host you in a classroom. If you would like to talk to high school students about how real news gets reported, please fill out this form.

We are seeking journalists at all levels of experience, in all types of roles, in all mediums, covering any beat. Early career journalists welcome. We mostly visit non-journalism classes and we prioritize low-income schools.

We feel it is extremely important that the students we serve meet speakers who reflect their diverse communities, and we prioritize coordinating visits by BIPOC journalists.

We are highly responsive to emails and messages, and welcome your questions and feedback. Write to us: info@journalistsinclassrooms.org

Journalists in Classrooms (JiC) is a grassroots community organization that seeks to increase news literacy among k-12 students by sending reporters into classrooms as guest speakers. The program has three overarching goals: 1.) To humanize journalists; 2.) To illuminate the relationship between a strong independent press and a functioning democracy, 3.) To arm students with the tools to distinguish fact-based storytelling from advertising or fake news.
